Anxiety in Imo state and other states as Supreme court to give verdict Today
Today the 14th of January 2020, Nigerias Apex court has continued the hearing of the governorship appeals for the six states of the Federation awaiting their final verdict.
Reporting from the supreme court, The Proceedings resumed after the court adjourned until Tuesday.
The court is hearing the appeals filed by some governorship candidates in Sokoto, Imo, Kano, Benue, Bauchi, and Plateau States.
Our reporters in Owerri, the Imo State capital has told us that all ears are open over today’s hearing at the Supreme Court. supporters of all the parties have also turned to prayer warriors, and pouring invectives on one another.
Also security agencies have warned supporters on both sides to exercise the highest degree of order and decorum in their jubilation on the outcome. In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Orlando Ikeokwu, warned against breakdown of law and order.
“In view of the Supreme Court judgement on the Imo State governorship election, the Imo State Police command, in conjunction with other security agencies in the state, wishes to express its readiness to ensure safety and security of members of the public during and after the judgement,” he said.
